Christmas Presents
We made a list, its written down
And now we're heading off to town
To buy some presents. What to get?
We've six more to decide on yet!
I wonder what to get for Mam?
And aunty Jean? And uncle Sam?
And brother Bill? And Grandpa Mick?
(of socks and ties he's really sick!)
Grandpa has had a busy life
With six kids, and Marie, his wife.
About his adventures along the way
He's always had a lot to say.
That's it! I know just what to do
For Grandpa, and for Nana too.
‘An Ode to Marie and Mick' will tell
of their lives, and loves, and kids as well.
On Christmas morn, under the tree
Is where this lovely poem will be.
Framed, wrapped up well, and in a box –
(They'll think they're getting matching socks).
They open it up. What a surprise!!
Their lives are there before their eyes!
The thought and love put into this
Is something that they cannot miss.
