Frequently Asked Questions

There are always a number of questions that our clients ask us. We have tried to cover most of them. If there is a question that we have not covered, please feel free to ask us by e-mail or via our contact form. Thank you!

Q. What will you write a poem about?

A. We will write a poem on any topic or about any person, provided the topic or subject is tasteful and without malice. Rhymetime Poetry will not deliver any work that is intended to cause harm or embarrassment to such a level that the recipient will be injured or upset. In general we will take our instructions from the person ordering the poem and base our judgements entirely on the content and tone of the poem.

Q. What information do you need?

A. The information that we require is totally dependent on the style of poem you require. You can tell us the name of the recipient, and some general information about the reason for the poem, such as birthday, hen night etc. For example if you wanted a poem for Aunty Kate you would need to give us the information about the baker boy and the hens etc. In line with our policy of not offending or upsetting any recipients we could refuse to take the order based on the content etc.

Q. How long will it take to deliver the poem?

A. Once you have supplied us with the relevant information and we have talked to you about your expectations of the poem, the occasion etc, we will then set about writing the first draft. Like all creative processes there is a time element involved, but we would endeavour to have the final poem ready within one week, from the time the information is supplied. The final delivery of the poem is dependent on how you choose to have it delivered. Please see our delivery page for further details on this. Although this is an approximate timespan, in an urgent case we can deliver a poem in a shorter timespan. Ask us when you make the initial enquiry and we will be in a better position to give you a more accurate delivery date.

Q. Are there different layouts and delivery methods?

A. In short yes. We do have a basic format, which is your poem delivered on high quality card / paper, printed in a suitable script. From this basic format we can make many changes from having the poem framed, handwritten by a calligraphist, decorated with images or artwork, printed on a suitable background image. We can offer a quotation for a poem delivered in any style and any method you request.

Q. Can I order a poem for delivery to anywhere?

A. Poems can be delivered to any part of the world. The only restriction will be on the length of time taken to deliver the work. The poem can be sent through ordinary surface mail. We also offer delivery via faster means at additional costs. Please see our delivery page for further details.

Q. Who owns the poem?

A. As with all artistic works, the final copyright belongs to the artist. Although you have purchased the poem as a gift, and you have ownership over the actual work, the artists assert their right to be recognised as the original artist. Any changes or amendments to the work may only be made with the artists permission in writing. The poem that you purchase will be a unique work*, written specifically for your recipient, in accordance with your instructions. We guarantee that the work will not be reproduced for any other client. What you are purchasing is a unique piece of work, specific to your subject.

*The guarantee of Unique work does not apply to our "Non Specific Poems"
